Beyond Living’s scope of services has expanded to encompass various design-related aspects for hospitality, including sourcing for amenities and accessories to complete the look & feel of a decorated space, uniform design, art consulting, and commissioned artworks.
With over 20 years of experience in the textile industry, CASA is a sister company of Beyond Living, developing and manufacturing machine-woven upholstery fabrics which are suited for the exacting requirements of the hospitality industry as well as for residential use. Colours and patterns we offer span a diverse range, from muted and conservative to bold and funky.
Ploenchan "Mook" Vinyaratn
The award-winning lead designer and owner of Beyond Living graduated with a degree in woven textiles from the prestigious Central St. Martin’s College of Art & Design in London. She spent the first five years of her professional life as the head designer for Mae Fah Luang Foundation (The Royal Patronage Project now known as Doi Tung, which encouraged hill tribes to convert from planting opium to handicraft occupations.) During this period, she became familiar with local raw materials, blending them with innovative materials and techniques, and she was acclaimed for helping usher in a new era of Thai textiles.
Forming her own company, Mook began designing and producing handwoven rugs, cushions, and accessories at her own factory, training and employing a team of weavers and embroiderers. Beyond Living started with a bang with unique nature-inspired collections for the retail market, but quickly found its niche developing exclusive designs for hotels and resorts.
Mook's bold, imaginative use of colours and drive to work with new materials and techniques has resulted in stunning artworks in a variety of media, from brass, aluminum and wood to recycled paper and stained glass. Her mixed-media work "Nestscape" was featured as the entryway show piece for Art Stage Singapore 2015.
Previously, Mook has designed collections for SASICT (The SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand) Foundation, developing handicraft collections produced by Her Majesty the Queen’s SUPPORT Foundation villagers for sale and exhibition, such as at the prestigious Maison et Objet Fair. Among the many awards Mook has earned are the GOOD DESIGN Award for outstanding design from JIDO (Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization) and “Designer of the Year Award” Silver Prize Excellence Award from Silapakorn University. Mook was also a founding board member of The Design and Objects Association of Thailand.
